About Peggy
Retreat Host • Culinary Instructor • Coach • Connector
Peggy Reineck is an inspiring and dynamic individual who transitioned from a high-paced professional world to embrace a simpler, more fulfilling life in the heart of Door County.

With decades of experience as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), coach, and former CEO of a senior living community, Peggy successfully sold her company to a publicly traded firm before setting out on a new path—one rooted in purpose, connection, and joy. She holds multiple certifications in coaching, meditation, and leadership development, and brings a wealth of experience in empowering others to create meaningful change in their own lives.

Her travels to over 10 countries, along with hands-on culinary experiences across cultures, have fueled her deep love for global cuisine and hospitality. Most recently, Peggy completed training at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, adding formal culinary training to her list of achievements.

Through Door County Retreats, Peggy brings people together in creative, meaningful ways—whether it’s through pop-up cooking classes, purpose-driven retreats, community events like Cooking for a Cause, or by hosting guests in her cozy rental properties. She also co-founded 100 Women Who Care – Door County, a local giving circle where women come together four times a year to pool their donations and make a powerful impact on local nonprofits. Peggy continues to invest her time in initiatives that foster connection, generosity, and lasting community change.

At her core, Peggy is a connector—with a huge heart, an infectious laugh, and a gift for making people feel at home. She has a way of truly seeing people and finding ways to champion them, often before they even see it in themselves. Whether you’re here to learn, relax, reflect, or just have fun, she’s created a space where you can do exactly that—and maybe even discover your own next chapter along the way.

About the Main Property
A Place with a Past and a Purpose
The sunsets here are some of the best in the county—no filter needed. The cabin was built before shoreline setback rules changed, so it’s grandfathered in and sits closer to the bay than most homes can today. With water views right out front, it’s the kind of spot where you naturally pause—whether it’s over morning coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day. It’s peaceful, private, and simple—just the way we like it.

When I first visited, I sat in a rocking chair left behind by the previous owner and thought, "this is it". That chair belonged to Maggy Magerstadt, a New York City actress and lifelong supporter of the Peninsula Players Theatre. In the 1950s, she moved this 1870s log cabin here. Since then, it has welcomed Broadway stars, Mad Magazine illustrators, and, more recently, the cast and crew of Green and Gold, starring Craig T. Nelson and Brandon Sklenar—who used it as Billy’s cabin.

It sits on our private estate—where we live full-time—and we treat every guest like a friend. Guests have access to kayaks, paddleboards, and a trail that leads directly to the Peninsula Players. Guests are welcome to enjoy shared access to our pool and hot tub daily from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., so you can relax and enjoy the water during the warmest part of the day. It’s more than a place to stay—it’s a place to belong.

The Hidden Kitchen
A Space for Cooking, Connection & Community
Tucked behind the guest cottage in Juddville, The Hidden Kitchen is more than just a cooking space—it’s a place to connect. Designed to feel like a home kitchen, it’s welcoming and unpretentious, ensuring guests leave not just with new skills, but with the confidence to recreate the experience at home.

Here, you’ll find small group cooking classes, bread-making sessions, and “Thursdays with Theo,” where Peggy cooks with her mentor, a retired Austrian chef. Together, they share stories, techniques, and the joy of cooking.

The Hidden Kitchen isn’t just about cooking; it’s about gathering. Whether making pasta from scratch or sharing a meal around the table, meaningful moments always arise. Many of our best ideas, like the start of 100 Women Who Care, began just that way—with good food, open conversation, and a shared desire to make a difference.

The Hidden Kitchen is also home to Cooking for a Cause, where meals are prepared and shared to support local needs. Whether it's soup for neighbors or a loaf of bread, philanthropy is baked into everything we do. This isn’t a professional kitchen—it’s a real kitchen, intentionally designed to inspire you to gather, give, and create something that matters.
